A good day indeed...
Last night, we took off to Fort Collins to spend the evening
chatting up a storm with an exquisite lady.
(Boon maybe had to listen to A LOT of wedding/kid talk! whoops!)
After our sleepover... we headed to Odell Brewing Co.
for a glorious run to start the day.
I was in love with the sea of green.
I am aflutter with ideas for outfitting myself next year.
The parade had some pretty loveable entries...
the little cuties dancing an irish jig and the ones throwing batons were just too much.
The senior doggy float really tugged at the heart strings.
Green beer was a must!
So was sitting in the sunshine soaking up the goodness of bagpipes.
Erik has been napping since we arrived home, which was over three hours ago.
Sleepy boy!
Tonight, we celebrate a sensational woman that just turned 30!
Hope you've had a rockin' day and stay safe tonight.
What were the highlights of your day?

Get Real!
So much love for this clever STIHL ad campaign.
A fantastic reminder to unplug, get real,
enjoy our beautiful planet, and REALLY interact!
What plans do you have for the weekend? Anything real?
Ads designed by these folks.
Delightful treat...
So many delightful treats these days.
Like the sunshine.
And this pretty image in my inbox.
Sunshine + Pretty Suits = Can't wait for summer.
But I don't want to wish away spring.
I know there are technically 11 more days until it is spring for for reals.
So I guess I will embrace this winter business while it is here and hopefully get to the mountains to play in the snow a bit more.
I think these suits are going to be more realistic this summer.

Do you think I could pull it off?
I fell in love with this sweet little lady the other day on Pinterest.
After exploring I found out that this is Rita and she is 81 years old, living in the Seattle area. These BIG/LOUD glasses aren't exactly her style, but they are now her trademark. Her collection includes about 70 pairs (that have been gifted to her) and even though she'd rather a small simple pair of glasses... she doesn't want to hurt any feelings so she wears a pair a day. Check out some of her other styles over here. Watch the video of her explaining her story. Super cute!
My heart shades get a lot of attention and it has been very evident that they bring sunshine to the folks that I pass on the street. I am curious what it would be like to have a mega collection like Rita. I hope that in 55 years I can be half as cute as she is.
Erik would disagree...but I am okay if you want to start sending some shades my way!
Advanced Style seems like a pretty sweet blog.
Mary Hayes...make friends with Rita! She hangs out at Great Harvest!
P.S. Look at those lips! Maybe I should start wearing red lipstick now!

One Day
You know how one day Mr. Boon and I will have a commitment ceremony
or maybe a wedding or something like that?
Well...I think it would be divine if it could feel as cozy as this one looks.
Ooooo wouldn't that be celestial?

Oh goodness...
I have been frequenting the post office lately.
Each time I mail a package, I have been buying a couple of stamps to add to my collection.
(shhh don't tell Boon...i am unemployed and that isn't allowed.)
I couldn't resist the:
- hawaiian shirt postcard stamps
- disney pixar forever stamps
- the one cent tiffany lamp stamps
I really want all of them... beautiful dragons and red lovey dovey stamps were calling my name...but today, I told the post lady, no way, jose.
Then I see that Royal Mail as come out with the official Roald Dahl stamps and I just don't know what to do with myself!!

Last week was my last with sweet baby Alex.
I savored every moment of his greatness.
We had some sunshine and a handful of lovely walks.
The first week of unemployment was prolific.
One of the busiest weeks I've had in a while. With a delightful bit of rest thrown in too.
It was nice to get lots of things knocked of my never ending list.
I am excited to see where next week takes me.

Rolling In
I heard winter was rolling in later today.
I took big orange for a quick spin before the snow came.
I chatted with the moos. I have been spending a lot of time with the bovines on the trails lately. This one was thinking that the 'grass is greener on the other side.' Silly moo. He had his head stuck in that fence.
As I was heading home, I heard someone yell from the tennis court.
I am not certain what he said. All I heard was, "orange bike!"
I looked over it was a very charming q-tip. I would say he was in his 70s.
I threw him a proud smile and shrugged my shoulders.
I swear this bike is a magnet for older men. Everywhere I go...men are close on my trail to tell me they like my bike.
If you need a date...you can borrow my bike. No guarantee that your date will under the age of 55. But I am sure it would be great conversation!
remembering
that boy has a darn good memory.
he told me that it was easy to get to know me because... i showed him all 240 pictures that were on my phone. (this was day 5 of knowing each other and our first time hanging just the two of us.)
i giggled. thinking, i probably did that. also thinking, who does that?
then i remembered when my ali from cali moved to the 406. one of the first times we hung out i made her sit down with 7 of my ginormous scrapbooks and look through those so she could get a lay of the land.
i like people to be in the know. i like to be in the know.
i know that all of life doesn't need to be documented...but if i don't document it...i don't remember it. and i like this life. i want to recall it all.
so i have:
too many pictures
several journals
my blog
every card i've ever been given
lots of wrist bands, tickets, & pieces of paper
to be able to recall it all.
sometimes i don't know what to do with all these remembering tools.
then last year i found Project Life.
i think i first spotted it on Ali Edwards blog.
now it seems like everyone is trying out project life.
some other my other favorite bloggers using this style of scrapbooking include...
and
my dear mother...
was so sweet and bought some project life goods for me this past Christmas.
everyday i dream about getting started.
but i am ready to rock n roll with it.
off to print pictures!
How do you keep track of all the goodness of your life?
Could you give Project Life a try?

Future Home For Sure
I think I have found the perfect spot for the next FortBoonMac abode...there is a possibility we could end up in California for a tiny bit. Do you think a postdoc salary could cover this place?
check out this...
It would be great if it came furnished! I love that play structure and all the outside goodness.
Boon's only concern is that there isn't a lawn to mow. Maybe we could transplant this place to Montana and put it on an acre of land.
I will keep dreaming!

begin again
it is now twenty five days into the new year.
i started writing this post on day six of the new year.
after nineteen days i am still on the same page with how i am feeling about this new year.
for two thousand eleven
mr. boon and i had some resolutions.
we did a pretty good job. the ones that we didn't ace... we are on the right track to!
it was to choose a word to keep coming back to during the year and how you go about your daily life. a little word to remind and inspire.
so before we went out on the town on the thirty first of december we had a little ceremony
(i may have forced this upon the holmstrom kids) to celebrate two thousand and eleven enlighten one another with our chosen word for two thousand and twelve.
boon's word = moderation
lindsay's word=being
miss jen's word= intention
so far...so good.
i know some folks don't really care much for resolutions. that is okay. but i also think that is okay to continue to strive and have hope for finding your flow and what makes you feel alive.
so here are some little pieces from around the web that are helping
me to get up every day and live it, intentionally.
from (still trying to find the correct link)
A wonderful article from my favorite self- improvement blog, Live Bold & Bloom...
create a vision board like Kaileen Elise
my computer is full of bookmarks, google reader starred items, hearted tumblr ideas, and pins on how i want to live out each day.
cheers to making baby steps and getting closer
and closer to being in alignment.
Wishing you success in finding where you need to be.
Happy year from me (and boon) to you.
what should your word be? do tell!
